Vacuum oil (vacuum pump oil) is critically important for vacuum pumps as it is needed for lubrication, cooling, sealing, corrosion protection, transfer of kinetic energy, etc. Always consider the major requirements for a good vacuum oil: Low vapour pressure, the ability to be a colour change indicator (and so indicate a change in quality), good corrosion protection, good oxidation resistance, appropriate water separation, classification and quality appropriate for area of application (e.g. food industry, fluid extraction, especially resistant compound). There are different quality bases of vacuum oil: Mineral basis and synthetic basis, which can be further separated to basic bases (PAO, PAG, ester, diester bases). When choosing a quality of vacuum oil, it is important to consider the area of application. AIR24’s priorities are the protection of the environment, long service life and compliance with application area and regulations (NSF H1 and H2).
Also important is the steam pressure most appropriate for the vacuum value, choice based on suction medium (analysis) and the appropriate oil for the design of the pump. Synthetic oils are classified H1 and H2 and they ensure long service life for reduced change intervals (and environmental damage), no coke deposits in the pump, higher flashpoints, especially low steam pressure and visibly better cooling capability. With synthetic oils, the oil separator filter of the vacuum pump can remain free of deposits. Synthetic oils are classified H1 and H2 and they ensure long service life for reduced change intervals (and environmental damage), no coke deposits in the pump, higher flashpoints, especially low steam pressure and visibly better cooling capability.
With synthetic oils, the oil separator filter of the vacuum pump can remain free of deposits and the service life of these oils can be much longer than mineral-based oils.
Vacuum grease is usually used for lubricating and improving the efficiency of gaskets, typically on silicon basis, which has excellent sealing capability and it is available in smaller and larger packs. The service life of silicone grease is very long and it protects gaskets from moving or pinching after installation.
